Fuels of the Future 2021
The transport sector in Germany, Europe and worldwide has so far made virtually no contribution to climate protection. Both higher power-to-weight ratios of the vehicle fleet and an increase in road-based freight transport have more than compensated for technological efficiency gains and greenhouse gas savings. The complete decarbonisation of the transport sector cannot be achieved with internal combustion engine-driven vehicles using fossil fuels and represents a key challenge in terms of overall economic significance. Since other promising measures such as e-mobility, hydrogen and other electricity-based fuels will only deliver noticeable effects in climate protection after 2030, sustainable biofuels are the means of choice for greenhouse gas reduction in transport, especially in the vehicle fleet, in the next 10 years. Follow interesting presentations on current technology highlights and significant solutions.
The trade congress will take place as a 5-day event series in the period from 18 - 22 January 2021. Each event day will consist of three sessions.
Fraunhofer UMSICHT will be represented with a presentation on congress day 4, 21 January 2021 in the session Biofuels in Aircraft.
Session 12 Biofuels in aviation
14:30 - 16:30
Lecture by Dr. Robert Daschner »Sustainable fuels from biogenic residues - FlexJet and ToSynFuel«.
As an expert on biorefinery and biofuels, the head of the energy technology department at Fraunhofer UMSICHT in Sulzbach-Rosenberg will use two current projects (FlexJet and ToSynFuel) to demonstrate our expertise - from basic research on catalytic syntheses of biofuels to process engineering designs and cost estimates for industry-related pilot plants.
