Information on current chemical recycling technologies and keynote speech by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Franke »Perspectives of Chemical and Mechanical Recycling« at Circular Thursday
Fraunhofer UMSICHT is represented as a partner of the CCPE - Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Circular Plastics Economy - at this year's K in Düsseldorf. Prof. Dr. Matthias Franke (Head of the Sulzbach-Rosenberg branch of the institute) will be speaking on the prospects for chemical and mechanical recycling. K is the leading international plastics trade fair. Scientists from the Sulzbach-Rosenberg branch of the institute will be happy to answer questions about current, innovative technologies for the chemical recycling of plastics. »Circular Thursday«
Fraunhofer CCPE and Plastics Europe Germany have announced a joint event at the K 2025 trade fair on October 9, 2025. »Circular Thursday« will take place as part of the special exhibition Plastics Shape the Future in Hall 6, Booth C40, and aims to highlight ways to achieve a climate-neutral circular economy with plastics. Matthias Franke, head of the Sulzbach-Rosenberg branch of the institute, will participate in Circular Thursday with a keynote speech on »Perspectives of Chemical and Mechanical Recycling.« It is the second theme day and is dedicated to the circular economy and sustainable innovations.
The transition from a linear to a circular plastics economy can only succeed with a multi-stakeholder approach. For this reason, Fraunhofer CCPE pools the expertise and infrastructures of six institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and cooperates closely with partners from industry. Together, we work on systemic, technical and social innovations and focus on the entire life cycle of plastic products. Fraunhofer UMSICHT is a partner here.
Fraunhofer UMSICHT's research is concerned with chemical recycling (feedstock recycling or raw material recycling). This has the potential to recycle even heavily contaminated and problematic plastic waste, e.g. composite materials. It therefore represents a supplement to mechanical plastic recycling processes.
Keynote: Perspectives of Chemical and Mechanical Recycling Date: October 9, 2025 Time: 2:55 - 3:10 p.m. Halle 6 Stand C40 |
