Following its successful launch in 2025, the Circular Valley Convention will enter its second round in 2026. It covers all aspects of the industrial circular economy and brings together decision-makers from business, research, politics and society. The convention includes conferences, an expo and events, and promotes exchange and innovation in the circular economy.

Fraunhofer UMSICHT is participating in BIOKET 2026 (BIOeconomy Key Enabling Technologies) in Fribourg (Switzerland), organised by Bioeconomy for Change. In his presentation, Robert Daschner, Head of the Advanced Carbon Conversion Technologies department, will talk about an innovative approach to producing stable, high-quality pyrolysis oils from biogenic residues. These serve as an alternative, non-fossil carbon source for the petrochemical industry. The presentation will focus in particular on applications in the plastics sector and on marine fuels produced from bio-oils.

Fraunhofer UMSICHT participates in the »Go Circular Summit 2026« in Mannheim. Matthias Franke, Head of the Sulzbach-Rosenberg Institute, will present the scaling of an autocatalytic recycling process for the production of high-purity aromatics from plastics that are difficult to recycle. In addition, Thomas Fehn, Group Manager for Chemical Recycling and Downstream Processes, will report on the European research project AUTOLOOP, which deals with integrated recycling technologies for textile waste.

Fraunhofer UMSICHT is participating in the 15th European Conference on Industrial Furnaces and Boilers (INFUB-15) in Porto. Felix Lehner from the Clean Combustion and Process Heat department will give a presentation on »Oxyfuel Combustion of Biogenic Pyrolysis Gas for Process Heat Supply and CO2 Capture«.

Brazil is the partner country for Hannover Messe 2026. Fraunhofer UMSICHT supports the Fraunhofer Liaison Office Brazil, which is presenting itself as a co-exhibitor at the Fraunhofer Society's joint stand. Fraunhofer UMSICHT has already carried out several research projects in Brazil and cooperates with ISI Biomassa. A small-scale demonstrator will be used to showcase the potential of thermocatalytic waste recycling.

Fraunhofer UMSICHT will participate in IFAT 2026 in Munich as a co-exhibitor at the VDMA and Bayern Innovativ stands. In 2026, IFAT Munich will once again be the largest platform for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management.

Fraunhofer UMSICHT is participating in this year's EUBCE 2026 in The Hague (Netherlands) – the world's largest biomass conference and exhibition. Various lectures and poster presentations will be given on topics related to conversion technologies for residual and waste materials and options for processing and further processing the conversion products. You will also gain insights into innovations in oxyfuel combustion.
